CHICAGO ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL SOCIAL, DIGITAL, & MERCH

I served as an experienced dog handler on the Chicago Animal Care & Control Transfer Team, blending hands-on animal care with strategic, cross-platform marketing to help increase live outcomes for the city’s most vulnerable dogs. I created videos, photos, social content, and custom merchandise to spotlight animals in need, drive awareness, and support rescue and fundraising efforts. I also collaborated closely with rescue partners, staff, and volunteers to evaluate dogs, coordinate transfers, and strengthen community engagement.

My role brought together compassion and communication — improving animal welfare, deepening human–animal connection, and using creative storytelling to help more dogs find the second chance they deserve.

Volunteer-Run Social Media Management Facebook & Instagram

I managed the volunteer-run Chicago Animal Care & Control Facebook page, a community of over 103,000 followers, where I wrote, scheduled, and published multiple posts per day. Each dog in the shelter received individualized marketing — including personality videos, dog-to-dog interaction clips, and creative storytelling crafted to reach rescue groups, adopters, and animal-welfare supporters. I also monitored and responded to messages within hours, ensuring consistent communication and support for the public and rescue partners.

In addition, I created and managed the volunteer-run CACC Dogs Instagram page, growing it to nearly 10,000 followers. I produced engaging, animal-focused content designed to increase visibility, deepen connection, and drive adoption or rescue placement.

Across both platforms, my goal was the same: use thoughtful, compassionate, high-impact content to help every animal be seen — and find the home they deserve.

Adopt LocaL

I created the “Adopt Local: Support Your Local Animal Shelter” merchandise line as a visibility campaign for Chicago Animal Care & Control. Because the shelter cannot accept monetary donations, every item was sold at cost, making the purpose purely promotional — a way to spark conversation, build community support, and shine a spotlight on the incredible animals waiting for homes.

From design to messaging, the merchandise was crafted to feel bold, local, and mission-driven. Each piece served as a walking billboard for the shelter, helping expand awareness, encourage adoption, and remind Chicagoans that amazing animals are right here in their own backyard — just waiting to be discovered.

CAMP CACC

I concepted CAMP CACC as a playful, summer-camp–inspired adoption event designed to boost visibility for Chicago Animal Care & Control and highlight shelter dogs in a fresh, joyful way. I created the event theme, designed the volunteer merchandise, and curated the photoshoot to bring the concept to life across social media, print, and in-person activations.

The tone was fun, nostalgic, and community-centered — using bright visuals, camp motifs, and engaging storytelling to draw people in. Thesocial content worked to build excitement leading up to the event, while the photoshoot showcased adoptable dogs as the “campers,” each with their own personality and charm.

CAMP CACC helped increase awareness, drove strong turnout, and gave shelter animals the spotlight they deserved in a way that felt warm, memorable, and uniquely Chicago.

HOMECOMING

I concepted HOMECOMING, a shelter-wide adoption event designed to celebrate dogs (and a few standout cats) by showcasing their personalities in a playful, high-school homecoming theme. I created the event concept, designed the branded merchandise, and curated a photoshoot to give each animal a moment to shine — from class clown to prom royalty.

The campaign extended across social media, event marketing, and custom merch, all crafted to boost visibility and engagement. The goal was simple: make the animals unforgettable. By presenting them with warmth, humor, and personality-driven storytelling, HOMECOMING created a joyful, community-focused experience that connected adopters with the pets who needed them most.

PUNK AF

I concepted and designed custom merchandise for Riot Fest, securing a booth on behalf of the shelter to raise awareness among festival attendees. The designs were intentionally crafted to resonate with the festival crowd — bold, playful, and perfectly aligned with the event’s culture.

The response exceeded every expectation: the merch sold out halfway through the first day, prompting an urgent reorder for the remaining two days of the festival. By the end of the weekend, we had completely sold out again, turning the booth into a high-visibility platform that sparked conversations, expanded reach, and brought meaningful attention to the animals who needed it most.

UGLY SWEATER

I concepted and designed a limited-edition holiday “Ugly Sweater” as part of a seasonal merchandise push to boost shelter visibility and celebrate the animals in a playful way. The design blended classic ugly-sweater humor with shelter-focused messaging, making it both festive and mission-driven.

Created to spark conversation, raise awareness, and give supporters a fun way to represent the shelter during the holidays, the sweater quickly became a community favorite — turning cold-weather fashion into a warm reminder of the animals who need a home for the holidays.

Digital Billboard CampaignS

I concepted and designed a series of digital billboards across Chicago to promote major adoption events and elevate overall awareness for the shelter. Each design was crafted to be bold, clear, and emotionally resonant — capturing the attention of commuters and citywide audiences within seconds.

The billboards highlighted adoptable animals, upcoming events, and key shelter messages, helping drive traffic, increase engagement, and expand visibility far beyond social media alone. By bringing the animals’ stories into high-traffic public spaces, these campaigns helped connect more Chicagoans with the pets who needed them most — and strengthened the shelter’s presence throughout the city.

Doggie Day Out Logo

I designed the Doggie Day Out logo for Chicago Animal Care & Control’s dog field trip program, creating a playful and approachable visual identity that reflected the spirit of the initiative. The goal was to capture the joy, freedom, and personality of the dogs while giving the program a recognizable look that volunteers, rescues, and the community could instantly connect with.

The final logo helped strengthen the program’s visibility, support volunteer engagement, and make Doggie Day Out feel like an exciting, uplifting experience for both dogs and participants.

Think Local. Adopt Local. Rescue Local.

I concepted and designed the “Think Local. Adopt Local. Rescue Local.” merchandise line as a community-centered awareness idea for the shelter. The concept was created to encourage people to look within their own city for adoptable pets and to support the local shelters and rescues working every day to save lives.

Because the shelter cannot accept monetary donations, the line was designed to be offered at cost, with the primary goal of raising visibility rather than revenue. Each piece was imagined as a wearable message — a conversation starter meant to inspire Chicagoans to consider adopting or supporting animals right in their own neighborhoods.
